What an awesome little gadget
by Graeme_FinlaysonHaving just freed up a load of floor space by mounting my PC in a Silverstone RM42-502 rack case and mounting it in an existing server rack cabinet, it was a littl einconvenient to have to open the rack cabinet and drop the from of the case to get to the power button. My motherboard doesn't support keyboard power on, but having had this option in the past the number of accidental switchings on of my PC became an even bigger frustration. I looked for a remote switch, but most of them involved routing yet another cable and having a fiendishly garish looking puck sitting on top of the cabinet. Then I spotted this - for about the same price, a 2.4GHz remote with no cables! I duly ordered it on Saturday and it arrived on Tuesday. fitting is a cinch. Unplug the power and reset connectors from your mobo, plug in the connectors on the remote boar, reconnect your Power on and reset connectors to the tails on the remote (so your PC front panel switches will still work) and plug the remote into a spare mobo USB header. If it's awkward to get at, the kit also contains a 3 -way right-angled adaptor. Fit the battery to the fob, and off you go. Works a treat!
