Decent price, kept me updated with progress, well packed (and they chucked in some sweeties!) and good delivery. Great service overall.Read on Google
Level up your game with the latest generation of memory. DDR5 RAM is here and lightning fast! Following on from its predecessor, DDR4 RAM, this latest standard allows for memory performance to be scaled in both density and bandwidth whilst lowering power consumption. The new architecture also offers greater function efficiency, as well as improving the clock speeds and signal integrity. What’s more, DDR5 quadruples the maximum capacity of the previous generation. This means that instead of maxing out at 32GB, each module can hold up to 128GB – with this number only improving as the technology develops. It’s forecasted that DDR5 RAM modules used in servers could hit a maximum capacity of 1TB!
DDR5 is the current generation of Random Access Memory, replacing DDR4 which has been the standard since 2014. Making its debut alongside Intel’s Alder Lake 12th Generation processors, DDR5 offers incredible performance. Unlike DDR4 memory, DDR5’s power delivery is provided right on the module, thanks to its in-built voltage regulator. This means you’ll not only need a compatible CPU for DDR5 RAM but also an appropriate motherboard.
Compared to DDR4 RAM, DDR5 uses around 10% less power whilst almost doubling the memory clock of the previous generation. DDR5 latencies, whilst higher than the last generation, are negated thanks to the increased memory clock. This means the bandwidth remains comparable or even faster than DDR4 RAM modules:
Did you know we run our very own Overclockers UK blog? Recently, we have taken a deep dive into the differences between DDR4 and DDR5 – click the button to learn more!
DDR5 is short for (DDR5 SDRAM) which stands for Double Data Rate 5 Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory.
The simple answer is no. While some DDR5-compatible CPUs can work with DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, the slots for memory on motherboards differ.
DDR4 and DDR5 RAM modules both have 288 pins. However, they use different pin layouts with DDR5’s keying notch located in a different position to DDR4’s.
DDR5 is great for gaming. The modules allow for quadrupling the amount of memory per stick compared to DDR4, and they use less power whilst clocking in at higher frequencies.
