I bought this as an upgrade from a 3070, and the difference is night and day. It eats everything I throw at it, even starfield which is the most unoptimised game I have played in a long time. I have it paired with a 13600k and 32gb 7200mhz ram, it's wonderful, no need for anything higher. Temperatures under the heaviest games at ultra are just under 60, and gpu utilization is never above 60%. It's a big cost, but it's well worth it. Also this card is the oc version, so if like me you're not comfy clocking your own card the extra 100 is worth every penny

If you want a graphics card that looks at anything you could possibly be running and just laughs, get a 4090. I upgraded from a 3090, and, to give you an idea of the increase, Cyberpunk 2077 went from struggling to get 30FPS with everything maxed, including the new 'path tracing' lighting, to getting 75FPS on exactly the same settings. There is also a new feature you can only get on 40 series cards, DLSS Frame generation, which uses technical wizardry and AI to generate extra frames without compromising graphics quality - this pushed it to 125FPS. Even when putting it under load like this, it is much quieter than my old 3090.
However, there is two things you need to watch out for. The first is that this is a behemoth of a card. I have a roomy, full tower case, but even that only just gave enough room for the length of the card (just over 12.5 inches), and it takes up three slots. The second is that it uses a new power connector. You do get an adaptor, but it is heavily recommended that you use an entirely separate cable for each of the old 8-pin connectors needed - and there's three of them on the adaptor (some other 4090s have four), so it would be an idea to check you have enough cables and connections free on your power supply. If you don't, it might be an idea to buy a new ATX 3.0 PSU, as they generally come with a dedicated connection and cable that dispenses with the need for the adaptor, and this should future-proof your system for the next few generations of graphics card.
